For some time, it has been the practice of the Club to set annual subscriptions at a rate that, multiplied by the number of members, will cover the majority of the Club's fixed costs for the coming year. Certain expenditures such as rent, insurance, audit fees, etc. must be outlaid irrespective of income from accommodation. These are viewed as the cost of holding a building in Thredbo, and therefore can be considered the cost to members of belonging to the Club and their share of these holding costs.

 

The Board works to minimise increases in these fixed costs and is pleased that rises in 2025 were modest. However, due to a net loss of 24 members since the 2025 subscriptions were issued, the Board has been obliged to increase the subscription rate by 4% to $755. Since a healthy Club membership is paramount in keeping subscription costs down the Board is focused on maintaining and growing the member base. To encourage retention of current younger members, and to make the Club more attractive to potential new younger members, the discounted subscription rate for 18–25-year-old members has been extended to 18–30-year-olds. In addition, an update to the membership application process is proposed, by way of a special resolution, based on feedback that the current process is too onerous and may be preventing applications for new members. Details of the proposed special resolution will be provided shortly. 

As always, Members can support the sustainability of the Club by encouraging and supporting new memberships from friends and relatives.
 

ORDINARY MEMBERS

The 2026 annual subscription for ordinary members is $755 (GST included) and may be paid either as:

One lump sum of $755 payable by 31 December 2025 - (increasing to $805 for payment received after this date)

OR

Three instalments of

$252 payable by 31 December 2025 - (increasing to $268 for payment received after this date)

$252 payable by 31 January 2026 - (increasing to $268 for payment received after this date)

$252 payable by 28 February 2026 - (increasing to $268 for payment received after this date)

 

MEMBERS 18-30 AND SENIOR MEMBERS

The 2026 annual subscription for members 18-30 and senior members is $378 (GST included) and may be paid either as:

One lump sum of $378 payable by 31 December 2025 - (increasing to $402 for payment received after this date)

OR

Three instalments of

$126 payable by 31 December 2025 - (increasing to $134 for payment received after this date)

$126 payable by 31 January 2026 - (increasing to $134 for payment received after this date)

$126 payable by 28 February 2026 - (increasing to $134 for payment received after this date)

 

To arrange to pay Annual Subs by instalment, please contact Brigid at bookkeeper@tac.org.au AFTER receiving the annual subs charge (to be issued on or shortly after 1 November) and BEFORE 19 December.

 

Important:

• Members will not be able to make bookings if their subscription is not paid by the due date(s) indicated.

• Where subscriptions remain unpaid on 31 March 2026, a member will be deemed un-financial. Ultimately unfinancial members may lose their membership, unless extenuating circumstances can be shown.

• The subscription must be paid in full before financial status and membership rights will be reinstated.

 

OVERSEAS MEMBERS

If a member is absent from Australia from 1st January for a period of nine (9) months or more, their subscription may be reduced to $378.

If a member has been resident overseas for three years or more and will continue to reside overseas for the subscription year to follow, their subscription may be reduced to $200.

N.B. An Overseas Subscription Declaration must be completed and submitted before either of these reductions will apply.
